Day 8 Belgrade, Serbia (B,L,D)
Your morning tour of Serbia’s vibrant capital will include Kalemegdan Fortress, the gigantic St. Sava Cathedral and many other attractions ending with a stroll down Knez Mihajlova. The afternoon is at leisure although
we highly recommend the optional Serbian Village Tour where 4 generations of an authentic Serbian family
will welcome you to their home for a hosted buffet lunch featuring local delicacies, unlimited “home brew” and live music performed by the family
and their friends and neighbors! The evening will end with a wonderful folklore performance on board!
Day 9 At Sail –
“The Iron Gate” (B,L,D)
Enjoy the passing views as well as talks on Balkan History presented by your Cruise Director. After lunch pass through the highest gorge on the Danube, aptly named the “The Iron Gates.” Over 62 miles long, this canyon was a gigantic obstacle to navigation because of its pointed rocks, cliffs, and changing water levels. This danger was finally overcome in 1972 with the building
of the “Djerdap” Hydroelectric and Navigation System, the largest of its kind in Europe.
Day 10 Vidin, Bulgaria (B,L,D)
Your morning tour of this Bulgarian town will include the remains of Trajan’s Bridge and the ancient Baba Vida Fortress. An optional tour to the unique Belogradcik Rocks will be available. Sail at lunch. Then its time to prepare for our festive Captain’s Gala
dinner with wine and entertainment!
Day 11 Turnu Magurele – Bucharest, Romania
Disembark (B) Dock at the Romanian port of Turnu Magurele and transfer to the “Paris of the East” – Bucharest, Romania’s lovely capital! (2.5 hrs). Your city tour will highlight the major attractions including the Arch D’ Triumph, the National
Theatre and a photo stop at the Parliament (the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon). Then it’s on to your first class hotel, where after check-in you will have free time to explore this lovely city at your leisure and enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants (on your own).
Day 12 Bucharest, Romania – Home (B)
